What is the role of the hygienist?

Dental Hygienists are specially trained to work alongside Dentists. They play a very important role and are mainly concerned with maintaining your oral health.

Clinically, Dental Hygienists help to treat and prevent periodontal (gum) disease using scaling and polishing treatments as well as taking dental radiographs and monitoring and screening procedures. Dental Hygienists are also permitted to apply fluorides and sealants to reduce dental caries (tooth decay).

Their role includes motivating and encouraging patients in oral health practices including oral hygiene and diet advice.

Why the treatment is

important

Bleeding gums and other gum problems are something we take very seriously. Hygiene therapy may reduce the risk of developing several serious medical conditions linked with gum disease. A surprising 90 per cent of us suffer from gum disease at some point in our lives, but with carefully considered dental care, the risks can be easily controlled.

By teaching children the most effective brushing techniques from a young age, they will take these skills into adulthood. We can provide preventative education and show parents how to lead by example when brushing and flossing at home.

AIRFLOW® works through the projection of tiny, carbonated particles and water pressure combined in a high-powered jet which gently but effectively removes stains from teeth, including hard to reach areas. The AIRFLOW® Teeth Cleaning system provides incredible results without any risk of damaging your teeth. Cost?

We currently charge £65.00 for a hygienist session or £105.00 for a scale and polish with air abrasion.
